The ministry in Eastern Europe evolved from a commitment that was made in the 1970's between Saltmine and the Movement for World Evangelisation. At that time the Christian Church in countries behind the Iron Curtain were severely restricted by communism, and believers were being persecuted for their faith. Visits were therefore made to encourage those who tried to remain faithful to their beliefs.
