This year we have teamed up with More than Gold, an umbrella organisation that is aiming to harness the creativity of the Church and Christian organisations to connect with people during the 2012 Games. They will coordinate teams from around the world to converge upon the UK to affect a positive impact on the community through a wide variety of ministries whilst communicating the Christian message in the process.
We have made a commitment to write and produce new culturally relevant street sketch material for use during the Olympic outreach and also as a future resource for Christian mission organisations and local churches.
Since January, Saltmine’s team of 11 actors have been seeking to create street sketch material that communicates the Christian faith and values in innovative and diverse ways using visual aids, mime, song, dance, spoken word, flash mob etc.
The team will attend a Go for Glory training week 20-25th July at the YWAM base in Harpenden where they will lead workshops and teach these sketches to other UK and International artists as well as prepare for the Olympic outreach the following week.
Our heart is to be the message in character and deed; and communicate the message of God’s story and values.
Our team of actors are currently writing and devising new street sketch material for the outreach work and we would really value your prayers for this and especially in July/August when they will be based in London performing the sketches in a variety of London spaces, working in partnership with More than Gold. A venue just confirmed is outside of Westminster Abbey.
Can you help us financially with the above? We need to raise the funds to cover the costs of 4 writing weeks, props and costumes, food and weekly travel passes for the 11 actors whilst they are in London. Amazingly, we have a local church helping us with accommodation/meals for the team, which we are so thankful for.
